New Pellinor book. And other tidbits.

Yes, I am hard at work on one. Having sworn to everyone that I thought the quartet was all the Pellinor books there were, I woke up one morning a month ago with an idea that was just there. It must have been hiding behind all my excuses. I'm now past page 50, and so far, so good. On good days I think I might finish it in July; on my rather more sane days, I think I'll type FINIS some time in September. Then there will be the endless process of turning it into an actual book, which takes ages. AND AGES.

It's a prequel, and it's about Cadvan. And that is all I am going to tell you until the damn thing is out. I haven't yet been able to think of a title for it. Did I tell you I am very bad at titles? If you're very nice to me, and I'm very sure about them - which means, not for a good long while - I may post the odd sample chapter.

In the meantime, my gothic fantasy BLACK SPRING is on the way - it will be out in Australia late 2012, and in the UK and the US early 2013. I am very excited about this one. Also, in other exciting news, Walker Books UK is reissuing the Pellinor books with some smart new covers - which I adore - and some new intros from their hapless translator. They'll be out some time this year.

Thanks everyone! There's still a long way to go. But I am plodding on, and feeling quite optimistic. Onward!

Oh my! I am...ridiculously excited right now. I would be squealing with joy and running around the house except that my cat would freak....

And yeah, kinda late commenting here but I AM SO EXCITED and I haven't been on here in a while. :)

Cannot wait for the new book; in the meantime I will just have to reread the existing quartet—again...and again... and again...

Its funny because I actually just started rereading the pellinor books and realized I hadn't looked at the blog in a while. So imagine my surprise and great delight when I do and see the first post is about a new pellinor book! I'm so excited to read it (even though its going to be a long while since I can actually do so). And I'm even more excited that its focusing on Cadvan, as he's one of my favorite byronic-type characters. Thanks Alison, and happy writing!

Oh wow! I was just passing through as a pick me up and now my day will be filled with smiles. That's so exciting. Hope the writing process isn't too stressful.

Abi (aka Celebrian - from a lifetime ago).

p.s. i'm currently doing an MA in Creative Writing and you were definitely a huge inspiration. Thank you. :)

Hi Leah and Celebrian (hello there! And good luck with your studies!) Thanks! I'm sorry I don't post on this blog very often, but I have a very busy other blog that keeps me pretty much swamped. The Book is going well, although I still can't think of a title... :)

OH MY GOD!! I can't wait!! Even if it comes out in two years I don't mind because THERE'S ANOTHER EFFING PELLINOR BOOK COMING OUT!!! WAHOOO!!! *runs around screaming*

Okay, seriously though. I'm really glad you decided to do a prequel instead of continuing the series and stretching it out like some other authors. Pellinor has most definitely come to an end, but a prequel is a whole other avenue to explore :D so thank you, thank you so much!

:) Thanks. Yes, it's no use trying tow rite a book that's just stretching out old ideas. So far so good on this one, although I have no idea at present what will happen next! I take that as a good sign.

Alison, I am so excited that you're writing a prequel about Cadvan! I loved the original series and was intrigued about Cadvan's past especially when I read the short story you released about the beginning of his and Saliman's friendship. Thanks for giving us fans more Pellinor awesome-ness but not continuing the original series! (I loved the way it ended, though I was sad when it did end)

I just read the books of Pellinor for the third time. When I came back out of the deep hole I fell in every time after reading the final words "the End" I ended up here looking for some news like someone who is dying of thirst for water. And what do we have here? A gleam of light in the dark!
I am realy happy right now. Since I enjoyed reading your descriptions of the landscape so much I'm full of hope to find even more beautiful places I've never seen in the upcoming book(s)!

Be sure, there are patient fans even in here Germany waiting for you! :)

Greetings

Mondlied

Hi Kobe - it will definitely be finished. Too far in to draw back now! I'm hoping to finish it by September, but it's usually takes a couple of years before it's out as a book. :( Sorry about that.
